About Committed in Christ

A ministry of CBA Orlando — built for couples who want more than survival.

We help couples come back to truth, tenderness, commitment, and Christ — through retreats, courses, and practical resources rooted in Scripture and informed by published relationship research.

Our statement of faith

What we believe

Committed in Christ is a ministry of CBA Orlando, a Seventh-day Adventist Christian community in Central Florida. We are rooted in the historic Christian faith — the life, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ — and in the authority of Scripture. We welcome couples from every Christian tradition and from every stage of faith, and we approach each couple with humility, respect, and hope.

We believe marriage is a covenant — a faithful, lifelong commitment between two people, reflecting the steadfast love God shows His people. We read marriage not as a contract to be escaped when convenient, and not as a hierarchy that gives one spouse power over the other, but as a joyful, mutual, and holy partnership of equals — “the two shall become one flesh.”

We believe grace is the soil in which marriage grows — grace that tells the truth, forgives deeply, honors dignity, and protects the vulnerable. And we believe the Holy Spirit empowers real change: not by magic, but by humble, daily, obedient practice over time.

Scripture references throughout this ministry are offered as gentle invitation, not as a weapon. No teaching here will ever be used to justify control, silence, harm, or the demand that anyone stay in an unsafe situation.

The four pillars

What we help couples grow in

Spiritual

Covenant, grace, prayer, Scripture, worship, service, discernment, and shared meaning — faith as the source of humility and hope.

Colossians 3:14

Emotional

Attachment needs, vulnerability, empathy, grief, forgiveness, trust, and the steady emotional attunement that helps two people feel safe and seen.

Ephesians 4:32

Psychological

Communication, conflict cycles, regulation, boundaries, family systems, habits, and decision-making — the practical skills a marriage runs on.

James 1:19

Physical & Relational

Body awareness, rest, affection, consent, sexual intimacy, health, and the daily practical partnership of a shared household.

Genesis 2:24

Scope and honesty

What we are — and what we are not

We AREWe are NOT
A Christ-centered marriage education and enrichment ministryLicensed psychotherapy, counseling, or mental-health treatment
A place where couples learn practical, research-informed relationship skillsA substitute for licensed therapy, medical care, legal counsel, or emergency services
Led by trained facilitators and couple mentorsLed by trained educators and mentors, with referrals to licensed professionals when clinical care is needed
Built on privacy between spouses and a safety-first frameworkGroup therapy, encounter-group sharing, or “marriage at all costs” pressure

If a couple needs clinical assessment or treatment, we say so clearly and walk with them toward it. Facilitators are trained educators and mentors, and they operate within that scope.

Accountability

Who leads this

Facilitator standards

  • Annual training in the ministry’s curriculum, plus continuing education in relationship education and safeguarding
  • Background checks for all facilitators and volunteers
  • A written code of conduct: confidentiality, scope discipline, and a strict no-pressure stance on intimacy and staying
  • Escalation and referral protocol for safety, abuse, addiction, and crisis situations

Our ministry team

Our facilitators serve as marriage educators and mentors within the ministry’s educational scope.

When we add team members, we describe their roles and qualifications plainly. We do not present ministry education as licensed therapy or emergency care.
